Lets Never Take Our Simple Blessings For Granted

First of all, Dear Readers, thank you for your patience with your 'non' writing coffee shop writer! I've been MIA for several weeks and have truly missed writing to you. I am using that old cliche' about the mind being willing but the body - weak. That's actually what happened to me when several health issues hit me all at once, however now feeling hugely blessed with recovery and am back in my coffee corner and also able to return to my coffee shops. I have missed that dearly and will not take those times for granted...they are simple but very special.

This may sound 'weird' but I had time while housebound to re-read my own 101 Blessings & 101 Promises again after a few years and it was like hitting the refresh button. I needed to 'chin up' and face the facts that my body, mind and spirit needed work! I needed to go back to where I started to drift and lose some of the joy I had in writing about my blessings and the promises I strongly relied on... I needed to recognize again how it's those simple pleasures that keep me going. Once more I had to see my cup as half full...not half empty.

I had the choice and Dear Readers I have to say I truly struggled at times. I am blessed to write that my blessings far outweighed the disappointments and changes I had to accept.

When you hear the word 'blessings', what immediately comes to mind?

Mine can be anything from waking up to sunshine pouring into my room and automatically making me feel warmth. Or...A message and invite for coffee or breakie... My felines greeting me for their breakfast... an outfit that I hadn't worn for ages fit me again due to some unplanned weight loss. "It's all good," I kept telling myself. Well...it is...except for the weather!

What the heck happened to April this year? It was a really tough month! All my previous blogs had been about my countdown to spring etc. and what did we get here on the prairie? Certainly not nice warm refreshing April showers!

WE GOT ICY RAIN AND SNOW...LOTS OF IT! Cold winds and horrible road conditions. Poor Little Easter Bunnies this year!

Well somehow we survived that too and now hoping May will make up for it, right?

Needless to say it is nearly the middle of the month and the weather is not being as nice to us as I'd hoped and I'm sure you all agree.

Today again I changed my attitude. Today it was about the mean weather. I decided to forget it because I couldn't do anything about it, could I? So a friend and I went shopping at a nearby nursery because:

I NEEDED PLANT THERAPY!

It worked! I brought home beautiful blooming pots & veggie plants, parsley and dill etc. which just filled the air around me with life and color. My cup overflowed today amongst all these living things and just being able to look at them all...pick out a few favorites, chat with others who felt as we did, made it even more special. Blessings galore in unexpected ways!

My Dear Readers whatever situations you may be facing at this time, the only advice I can offer is from what I've personally learned through my own trials. I clung to my Faith and tried to focus on a positive attitude and kept hoping for that fresh start. Try your best to keep looking at your cup as half full because its possible it could be full by the end of the day & you will feel blessed.

As you are enjoying your favorite beverage and reading this before or after your busy day, think about what blessed and made your moments brighter. It helps to remember these things when the going gets tough. Stay strong and remember to be kind and thoughtful to yourself. You are needed and you are essential.

Thank you for reading and allowing me to share my thoughts and experiences with you.

I am blessed that I can have my coffee once more and am off a strict diet.

Believe me...I ordered a FULL cup & I got it!
