THE QUIET CORNER

Updated: Dec 22, 2021

Sometimes I appreciate my quiet mornings like this one was. It's a time for reflection and I allow myself to day dream. I was snuggled with my fuzzy blankie (yes I have a favorite), into my big comfy chair, my hands warmed by my cup. I've got a perfect view of my front yard, which seems to be a very busy area by the amount of little tracks everywhere. I have no idea where they come from or where they go! Amazing! My trees are 'frosted' from yesterday's snowfall and the sun is brilliant on everything.

It is hard to believe that this is the second last Monday of 2021...however it is not leaving in a hurry. Tonight is the longest night of the year. Christmas is just days away! Everyone I talk with has the same concerns about scrambling to meet the new restrictions. I only have one thing that I say all the time.

"It is what it is." No amount of stomping my feet or getting myself in a tizzy will change anything or help the situation.

( Grrrrr!) I am allowed a growl now and then! Lol!

It is so peaceful here as I look outside that I could almost forget all the turmoil around us. And sometimes early in the morning while I sit here that's exactly what I do...I allow myself to forget and let myself daydream or reminisce about anything that comes to mind. I like to day dream about the simple pleasures in life and about my hopes for the future of my family & their families. There were times when my children were small, I'd vision the perfect house & furnishings one day, etc. and as I reflect...I realize every home we had...WAS perfect. It wasn't the material things, it was the noise, constant chatter and laughter, morning rushes and sibling rivalry...the whole nine yards, and our open door policy for their friends to play & have sleep overs.

For Friends, Family and neighbors, coffee hour was any hour of any day. Many have since passed but I love to think about those times and sometimes they feel like only yesterday. Great memories to daydream about. I will always say hold on with hope in your heart to those dreams and visions. It helps to keep us moving forward. Here is one motivational quote I found the other day & want to share it with you while you finish your coffee or tea this morning & may have that 'stuck in a rut', feeling. I do know all about THAT some days.

"Never stop working for your vision because you never know when your early morning struggle will turn into an overnight success!"

You got this Dear Reader! Keep believing.

Blessings, Lane.
